I've decided to come clean with you, dear reader. Winter birding is just not for me. Here's what I mean:
From this graph you can see as the temperature rises I tend to enjoy birding much more. However, enjoyment tends to level off in the 70º to 90º range, and sharply declines at temperatures above 100º. It's all very scientific, really. And it explains my long period of zero blog entries.
I'd like to be outside more often, but I'm afraid this isn't going to happen until the weather begins to cooperate. Meanwhile, here are a few pictures from the last few months....

Haha! You crack me up.......... I have to admit, I'm getting sick of bundling up with parkas, boots, hats and gloves and then still freezing my face off and my fingertips. This weekend I stayed indoors and did my birding from the windows. We have more snow coming in tonight.
ReplyDeleteLove your little Rocket Downy...very cute shot.
Hey, it's not always according to your scientific graph! I remember you having a pretty good time showing a ten-year-old birds on the absolute coldest morning of the year. :)
ReplyDeleteKelly - My fingers and face are always the coldest too. Brrr! I'm glad we don't have snow up here. And the winter is so short, I'm sure before I know it the spring will be here, and migration with it. I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteMikael - You're right! I forgot about that walk. Well I guess if good birds and good people distract me enough, it isn't so bad. :)
Awesome graph! I imagine if you did a similar graph based on coffee consumption over those months the bell curve would look very similar. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mark! Mmmm, coffee.
